Dear friends and fam,
On Sunday, I'll be running a 5K to benefit HEAL Palestine, an incredible org providing food and aid, and helping severely wounded kids receive much-needed treatment and prosthetics abroad.
I've had the great fortune to see some of their life-saving work first-hand. Last month, I went out to Dulles Airport to welcome a HEAL patient to the DMV. Baylasan, a sweet 10-year old girl from Gaza, lost her leg and many family members in an airstrike. Baylasan's mother was unable to travel with her due to her own injury, so two women I'm lucky to know traveled to Egypt to accompany her to the US. Baylasan received the warmest welcome I've ever seen from hundreds of folks at the airport (you can watch this WUSA9 segment on her arrival). It was so moving to witness – equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful.
