Clonazepam is a prescription medication that belongs to the benzodiazepine class of drugs. It is commonly used to treat seizure disorders, including epilepsy, and to manage panic disorder and certain types of anxiety. Clonazepam works by enhancing the effects of GABA, a calming chemical in the brain, which helps reduce abnormal nerve activity.

Doctors usually prescribe it for short-term use because long-term use can lead to dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms. It can also cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, or impaired coordination, so patients are advised to avoid alcohol and not drive until they know how it affects them.

Across Gaza, families have been uprooted again and again with very few safe places to stay. The UN estimates about 1.9 million people—roughly 90% of the population—are internally displaced, many multiple times. Schools that once served as shelters are largely unusable. About 97% of school buildings have sustained damage and need major repairs or full reconstruction. At the same time, food insecurity and disease risks are rising fast.
